Lot Essay

The composition is reminiscent of the engravings by N. Cochin for Science et Géométrie. A covered cup and saucer from this service is in the Rijksmuseum and is illustrated by C. Jörg, Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, 1997, no.341. Two teabowls and saucers from the same service are in the Groninger Museum, Groningen, and a teapot and cover is in the British Museum.
