Tibeto-Chinese, Qianlong Mark and Period (1736-95)
Seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base with his hands in bhumisparsa mudra wearing layered robes tied at the waist, his face in a benign expression with arched brows, aquiline nose and full cheeks, his hair arranged in tight curls surmounted by an ushnisha and bud-shaped cintamani, bearing an inscription at top of base Simha Dvaja in Tibetan and around the rim of the base identifying his Chinese and Tibetan names with further inscription in Mongolian

The historical Buddha Shakyamuni numbers fourth in the series of 1000 Buddhas relating to this eon; Senge Gyaltsen (Simha Dvaja) is the 65th Buddha for the current eon.
The head and hands of this figure are cast, while the body and base are worked in repoussé.
