the watch by Alexander Cumming, signed 'A. Cumming London', no. 765, the gold case with the English standard mark for 22-carat gold 1756-1821, London assay office mark 1756-1821, London date letter May 1769 - May 1770, maker's mark 'PM' incuse probably for Peter Mounier (fl. post-1761)
White enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer Arabic five minutes, pierced gold hands, signed and numbered gilt fusee movement with cylinder escapement, diamond endstone, plunge repeat, gilt dust cover, plain inner case, outer case with diamond thumb-piece, decorated with translucent dark blue champlevé enamel flowers on a concentrically reeded ground, with a chatelaine en suite
1 7/8 in. (48 mm.) diam.
