the watch by Romilly, signed 'Romilly AParis', the case struck with incuse marks 'C&B'. circa 1770, later struck with the Dutch post-1955 mark for foreign 18-carat gold
White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, eccentric winding hole, paste set hands, gilt fusee movement, chased case with diamond thumb-piece, the back decorated with a circular enamel panel painted with Cupid and a couple at an altar of love, on an opalescent ground within a chased leaf and split-pearl set border
