by Jean-Antoine Joubert (fl. 1777-1791), marked, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache 1774-1780, later struck with the French 'recense' mark of the South Division 1819-1838
Slightly tapering red gold étui of oval section, the cover and base chased with vertical flutes hung with laurel swags attached with rings at the sides of the case, the yellow gold matted borders chased with green gold quatrefoils, bright cut raised red gold rims, the raised top of the cap chased with a foliate green gold lozenge on a matted yellow gold ovolo, blank matrix
