A GEORGE III CUT-GLASS AND GOLD CAGEWORK SCENT-BOTTLE
circa 1760
Spherical faceted cut-glass body with gold cagework mounts chased with flowers and Rococo scrolls, the gold neck inscribed on an opaque white ground GAGE DE MON AMITIE, repoussé gold rocaille and shellwork stopper attached with a chain

Lot Essay

A very similar flacon was in the collection of the Vicomtesse de Courval, sold Sotheby's, London, 30 May 1977, lot 103. An almost identical scent-bottle enamelled FIDELLE EN AMITIE was formerly in the Elizabeth Parke Firestone collection, Christie's, New York, 19 November 1982, lot 13.
