Lot Essay

Ce dessin, anciennement attribué à Michelangelo, se rapproche plutôt, comme l'a suggéré Dr. Roger Ward, de Raffaelle da Montelupo (1504-1566), un sculpteur ambidextre qui travailla avec Andrea Sansovino, Niccolo Tribolò et Michelangelo à Florence, Rome et Orvieto. Un dessin similaire est au British Museum (N. Turner, Florentine Drawings of the Sixteenth Century, cat. expo., Londres, British Museum, 1986, no. 100) et d'autres sont reproduits dans B. Berenson, The Drawings of the Florentine Painters, Chicago, 1970, figs. 814-32.
