An Inlaid Celadon Stoneware Bowl
Koryo Dynasty (13th century)
Inlaid in white and black slip on the interior with a wide band of alternating phoenixes and bosang-hwa flower scroll below narrower bands of cranes and clouds and arching foliage, the cavetto inlaid with a pair of confronted phoenixes; the exterior of the bowl inlaid in white and black slip with a frieze of dragons chasing the flaming pearl amongst clouds between a band of stiff leaves, above the foot, and successive bands of auspicious heart-shaped fungus heads and arching foliage below the rim; also decorated with a green celadon glaze with dense craquelure, three spur marks on base
