A Victorian japanned sheet iron post box, last quarter 19th century
Of open, rectangular form, the front pierced overall with quatrefoils and with two oval reserves with POST and DELIVERY in black paint, a drawer beneath similarly marked STAMPS and WAFERS, surmounted by a circular calendar disc with PUBD. BY SHOOLBRED LOVERIDGE & CO, WOLVERHAMPTON, a further stamp to the underside with HENRY LOVERIDGE & CO. MERRIDALE WORKS, WOLVERHAMPTON -- 12½in. (31.9cm.) high
