A George III mahogany and inlaid longcase clock
The hood with brass-capped swan-neck pediment, outset front-fluted columns with composite capitals, the door with wavy frame, with dentil throat mouldings, the arched door with chequer inlays and flanked by stop-fluted three-quarter length pilasters, on stepped plinth, the 11½in. wide brass dial with engraved border and bird and urn spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and box date aperture, with silvered convex disc to the arch signed Geo: Wentworth OXON, the five pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; case associated to movement and dial, case last quarter 18th century, dial and movement second quarter -- 85in.
