A FINE CARVED RUBY-RED GLASS BOTTLE
Imperial, attributed to the Palace Workshops, Beijing, 1740-1820
Of flattened, elongated ovoid shape, carved on either side in low relief with two descending confronted kui-dragons framing a shou medallion, the sides carved with stylized leafy fronds surrounding a flowerhead, all below a band of pendent rounded plantain leaves, stopper
3in. (7.5cm.) high

Hugh M. Moss Ltd., London.

Specialist note

For a discussion of the plantain-leaf border, see lot 7. Like chilong, the subject of kui-dragons surrounding a shou (longevity) medallion was a popular Imperial subject.
