Of flattened ovoid form, the slightly smoky semi-transparent stone cleverly carved on one side utilizing opaque white and amethyst inclusions with an egret and crab amongst tall lotus stems, well hollowed, stopper

Lot Essay

The range of the quartz family allows the occasional combination of different varieties in a single specimen. Here a rare combination of amethyst and brown crystal are combined with a thick layer of the natural 'skin' of the outer crystalline form and used imaginatively by the carver.
