A Dutch-engraved armorial silver wedding commemorative goblet
The glass circa 1750, the engraving circa 1777
The generous funnel bowl engraved with the crowned arms accollées of Baron Gerrit Martin du Tour and the Honourable Miss Anna Agatha de Beaufort, flanked by lion and mermaid supporters, above two cornucopiae from which water flows into a rocaille basin, within an entwined ribbon cartouche inscribed TER GEDAGTENISSE VAN DE 25 JAARIGE TROUWDAG VAN JONKHEER GERRIT MARTIN BARON DU TOUR BURGEMEESTER EN RAAD DER STAD ALKMAAR MET VROUWE ANNA AGATHA DE BEAUFORT IN DEN ECHT VERBONDEN DEN 25 APRIL 1752 (In commemoration of the 25th wedding anniversary of Esquire Gerrit Martin Baron du Tour Burgomaster and Counsellor of the City of Alkmaar with Lady Anna Agatha de Beaufort joined in wedlock on the 25th of April 1752), on multi-knopped beaded stem enclosing two waisted sections above a conical foot
