Lot Essay

Professor Cocke suggests that the present drawing may be an early work, and compares it to a study of a seated man dated to 1548, R. Cocke, op. cit., no. 2. The pose of the figure suggests that it may have been intended for a saint presenting a donor to the Holy Family.
