1975 ROLLS-ROYCE CORNICHE FIXED HEAD COUPÉ
COACHWORK BY MULLINER PARK WARD

Registration No. JYT 639N
Chassis No. CRD 21324
Engine No. 21324
Walnut Brown with magnolia, piped in brown, leather interior

Engine: V8, overhead valve, 6,750cc, 225bhp at 4,500 rpm; Gearbox: three speed automatic transmission; Suspension: front, independent, lower wishbones, coil springs, with anti-dive; rear by trailing arm and coil spring, automatic levelling; Brakes: power-assisted disc. Left hand drive.

The Corniche model was announced in early 1971, and began a new era for the company of using names to designate specific coachwork designs rather than just the basis of a chassis name: with unitary construction this no longer worked. The name and model in fact was a new identity for the existing, coachbuilt, two door design based on the Silver Shadow which had been available since 1967 from H.J. Mulliner, Park Ward. It also benefitted from improved performance over the standard Shadow, and for the first time cruise control was introduced, whilst the cosmetically the new car featured a revised interior dash layout.

This car was originally supplied for export, and was built to USA specification, with speedometer in miles, and left hand drive. It was shipped care of Loeber Importers in the USA, to Rolls-Royce Motors Inc. of New Jersey. The purchaser of the new Corniche, was world renowned former World Champion boxer Muhammad Ali, who was then also living in New Jersey, his warranty is signed and dated as taking delivery in June 1976. It is not known whether this was his first Rolls-Royce, or whether a number had preceded it, but it can be assumed that he has always liked these cars, as he retains one to this day.

The current owner has confirmed that they acquired the car in America in around 1983, and repatriated it in the early 1990s. It subsequently went to Jack Barclay to be serviced, and has been used sparingly ever since. Today its condition is sound in general, but considered to require some attention mechanically, it is however expected to be sold with a current MoT certificate at the time of sale.

The factory build sheets confirming the car's original order accompany the car.
