The rectangular top inset with a brocatelle marble within a stiff leaf border, the frieze inset with lacquer panels depicting pagoda landscapes within beaded borders containing a spring mounted drawer of breakfront outline between ribband drapery ornament on fluted octagonal tapered legs joined by a speckled lacquer undertier with a lambrequin edge, on turned tapered feet with laurel leaf collars and beaded sabots, stamped underneath HENRY DASSON twice

Lot Essay

Henry Dasson (1825-1896) established his business at 106, Rue Vielle-du-Temple. He was renowned for the exceptional standard of the ormolu mounts that he used which had a high quality of mercurial gilding. He manipulated 18th century designs to his own taste. He exhibited pieces at the Expositions Universelles in 1878 and 1889, when he received a Grand Prix Artistique for his display.
