A RARE JEWELLED, TURQUOISE AND GOLD HAND MIRROR

The mirror frame of oval shape, the rim on the front with stylized gold scrolls set with cabochon sapphires and diamonds, the back with similar design set with cabochon rubies and diamonds enclosing a large octagonal turquoise panel, engraved with stylized gilded birds amongst floral design, within stylized Greek-key pattern frame, with a tapering reeded handle set with diamonds, cabochon rubies and a sapphire, the upper half with stylized leaf scrolls, marked on the frame, in an original fitted case stamped 'CE Bolin Joaillier de la cour À ST. PETERSBOURG' with Imperial warrant

Lot Essay

Eduard Schramm produced essentially small gold objects which appear most of the time set with cabochon sapphires or rubies. Schramm worked for Fabergé, but appeared to have worked on some occasions for a jeweler such as Bolin in St. Petersburg.
