Lot Essay

This print and that in lot 80 originate from the collection of the Surrealist painter Marcel Jean. Jean was a close friend of the Spanish Surrealist Oscar Dominquez, the designer of the wheelbarrow and many of Dominquez's works from 1937 were realized in Jean's studio.

A variant of this image was reproduced in the important Surrealist journal Minotaure, no. 10, 1937, p. 44.
