Iran or Mesopotamia, 12th century
Of conical form with vertical rim on short foot, the interior incised through the white slip to the red body to leave the figure of a large harpy with central rosette, a small leopard below, surrounded by scrolling vine terminating in palmettes, in a plain stripe border, the exterior plain, repaired, slight restoration to rim
7 1/8in. (18.2cm.) diam.
