                                            A rare early 19th-Century German lacquered-brass compound microscope, 
signed on the stage Utzschneider, Reichenbach und Fraunhofer in Benedictbeurn, with draw-tube focusing, the tube held in a sleeve on a limb from the vertical column to which is attached the sprung eared stage and swivelling substage concave mirror, raised on a square- stepped ebonised wooden base, with one eyepiece, one objective marked 1, a wooden slider with five cells, stage forceps and bull's-eye condensor, contained in the orignal fitted and tooled leather-covered wooden case, with key -- 10¾in. (27.3cm.) wide
