Rare. An attractive view evocatitvely depicting the busy traffic carriages, costumes in Melbourne's premier street at the height of the gold rush, the lithograph is dated June 53 in the image (the numeral 3 inadverently reversed). The Baptist Chapel is on the corner with the nearby Argus office, the Yarra River and shipping in the distance. See K.M. Bowden p. 134 apparently listed in the La Trobe Library collection as City of Melbourne from the south bank of the Yarra Yarra looking west from Russell Street. No. 1 in Views in and around Melb. 1853
