South East Persia, circa 1890
The pale apricot field with scrolling leaves and shaped cartouches and panels containing palmettes and part flowerheads around a large shaped camel panel with large vase issuing a profusely flowering tree flanked by scrolling fronds entwined with bindweed and surmounted by perching birds, signature cartouche above, commissioning inscription panel at one end of the field, in a pale sandy yellow border of meandering feathery leaves interlaced with palmettes and flowering tendrils, between indigo and apricot floral meander stripes, plain outer red stripe, very small repaired moth damage

The cartouche inscription reads: Amal-i Ustad Asghar Karamani- The work of Ustad Asghar Kirmani
The crossband inscription translates: "Commissioned by his exalted Excellency, The Pride of all Pilgrims, Hajji Ibrahim, the Tabrizi merchant"
