FIRST EDITION of "a Thorndyke story of a somewhat new type. The heroine--a young married woman who lives apart from her very disreputable husband--disappears under circumstances that are more than suspicious..." (dust jacket). Notes on the rear endpaper have been attributed to Frederic Dannay: "Selected by James Sander for his Readers' Guide to Crime 'The Mysteries of Angelina Frood' (1924) which is, incidentally, an answer to certain solutions of Dickens' novel. (Edwin Drood)." Donaldson 18 (making no reference to a dust jacket).
