FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by Morley on front free endpaper: "This is Elizabeth Wells's copy and signed for her by Roger Mifflin and Christopher Morley, Minneapolis April 22, 1931." Roger Mifflin was the fictitious hero of the book. In the first issue jacket, with "vibrating," instead of "beating" on the front panel.
