2 volumes, 8o. Frontispiece portrait of Poe in vol. I. (Some foxing as usual.) Original blue blind-stamped cloth, gilt-lettered on spine (both vols. lacking front free endpapers, vol. II hinges cracked, a bit rubbed, some wear at extremities).

FIRST EDITION, second printing of both volumes, BAL binding B. Volume one includes the tales and volume two the poems and miscellaneous works. BAL 16158.

Original plum blind-ruled cloth, spines with goldstamped bust of Athene, gilt-lettered on spine, blue-stained endpapers with red and purple sprinkling. FIRST EDITION of the fourth volume, later issue of the first three, BAL binding H, contrary to the note there which states that the 4-volume collected Works was issued in this binding "not later than 1853." BAL 16161 (vol. IV only; vols. I-III not in BAL). (6)
