Finely painted with an interior scene including twenty-four personages at the religious heresy trial of Jan Huss
12½ x 10½in. (31.7 x 26.6cm.), within carved gilt wood frame

Lot Essay

Jan Huss, a religious reformer who preached against the abuses of the clergy, is depicted here presenting his views at the Council of Constance 1414. He was later burned at the stake.
