A page from an autograph book signed by The Beatles in 1963, in black ink by George Harrison, in pencil by Paul McCartney, in black ballpoint pen by John Lennon and in blue ballpoint pen by Ringo Starr -- 3 7/8x4½in. (9.9x11.4cm.); accompanied by a black and white copy print photograph showing the vendor standing between George Harrison and John Lennon as the former signed her book at the Gaumont Theatre, Ipswich, Suffolk, 22nd May, 1963 -- 3 7/8x6 3/8in. (10x16.3cm.), (printed later); and a clipping from the Ipswich Evening Star, 30 November, 2001 showing a reproduction of the same photograph (3)

Lot Essay

The Beatles visited Ipswich in 1963 and 1964 and these signatures were obtained on the first occasion. According to the accompanying press cutting ..Tickets were like gold dust..on both occasions the Gaumont was crammed. The theatre had seen nothing like it before and would never see anything on the same scale again.. the manager commented ...it was quite an achievement to get the Beatles to Ipswich..
