Lot Essay

This poster advertises Yoko Ono's last 'Music Of The Mind' concert in London before she returned to New York at the end of 1966. Yoko was in London for the 'Destruction in Art' symposium, September, 1966, organised partly by Barry Miles, who was also part owner of the Indica Gallery with a friend of John Lennon's, John Dunbar. Yoko was given free rein to stage any type of exhibition she wished at the Indica, and it was here, on 9th November at her 'Unfinished Paintings and Objects' exhibition preview, that she first encountered John Lennon.
