Lot Essay

This Pembroke table has inset panels of cusped quatrefoils on its legs, a common stylistic trait that appears on some of the furniture attributed to the Yorkshire cabinet-makers, Wright and Elwick. Richard Wright and Edward Elwick were in partnership between 1747 and 1771, and their work is discussed in 'The Wentworth Cabinet-Maker: Wright and Elwick', Christie's Wentworth sale catalogue, 8 July 1998, pp. 110-112.
