Chromolithographic map, 16 mounted chromolithographic plates after Moss, numerous wood-engraved illustrations. (Some marginal soiling.) Original blue cloth, blocked in black and gilt, gilt edges (rebacked and cornered, original spine laid down, later endpapers). Provenance: Arnold Library, Rugby (ink stamp on title).
One of the few works to include large format plates of the British Arctic Expedition of 1875 to 1876 based on the drawings and notes of Edward Moss, who served as surgeon aboard H.M.S. Alert.
