Letters from High Latitudes; being some account of a voyage in the schooner yacht "Foam," 85 O.M. to Iceland, Jan Mayen, & Spitzbergen, in 1856. London: John Murray, 1857. 8° (198 x 133mm). Contemporary green half morocco gilt, g.e., by Riley of Manchester (joints split, inner hinges repaired). Provenance: Thomas Harrison (inscription dated 1859; Millearne (signature). New York: privately printed [at the Marchbanks Press], 1931, 4° (237 x 184mm). Mounted portrait frontispiece, plates, folding coloured map. Original cloth-backed boards (spine darkened). Provenance: Presentation inscription from Arthur S.Allen, Snr. to 'my friend Gus' dated 1933. Limited edition of 900 copies. The crew included Rockwell Kent. Allen survived the shipwreck but was knocked down and killed by a car shortly after his return to the United States. Arctic Bibliography 287.
