Folding engraved map of South America on 2 sheets, uncut. (Light soiling to outer blank margin of title, small tears to both sheets of map, library stamps on title, verso of map sheets, C1 and I1.) First edition of a work that reinforced the idea of the giant stature of the Patagonians. Falkner served as a Jesuit missionary in Patagonia from 1740, returning to England when the Jesuits were expelled in 1768. Palau 86485; Sabin 23734.
