ISLAMIC, CIRCA SECOND HALF OF THE 12TH CENTURY A.D.
The brick red linen ground resist-dyed to reveal a natural ground frieze woven with a band of tapestry guilloches including ducks and stylized motifs in pale green, red and black, with twisted fringe, 19 in. (48.2 cm.) across; a Coptic embroidered textile panel with central equestrian figure, circa 8th-10th Century A.D., 9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) high; and another, with two red, yellow, blue and green embroidered panels and medallions, with frieze of lilies, acanthus leaves and other plants, 7th-9th Century A.D., 27½ in. (70 cm.) high, both framed and glazed (3)
