AN APULIAN RED-FIGURE COLUMN KRATER
4TH CENTURY B.C.
Side A: a maenad carrying thrysos and spotted wreath with fillet, approaching a seated figure of Eros, who holds out a dish laden with cake, a fillet in the field, details in added white
Side B: two draped youths, each with a staff, between them in the field a writing tablet and stylus bound with cord and a pair of jumping weights
Each side framed by double vertical row of dots and a band of wave below, with rays above on the shoulder, the neck with frieze of ivy tendrils, rays around the rim with double band of dots below, palmettes above the handles
