Lot Essay

Between 1886 and 1893 Emile Bernard painted in Brittany at Pont-Aven, working with Paul Gauguin, Paul Serusier and Maurice Denis. He became friendly with Vincent van Gogh in 1887 and worked together with him in Asnières.

The authenticity of the present lot has kindly been confirmed by Mrs Beatrice Altarriba Recchi on 17 June 1992.
