Lot Essay

The present lot is sold with a copy of a letter from Pierre Rosenberg , dated 20 September 1982, tentatively suggesting an attribution to the young Allegrain on the basis of a photograph. The relief on the fountain is copied from Pietro da Cortona's frescoes in the Palazzo Pamphili, Rome.
