Lot Essay

We are very grateful to Richard Shone for his assistance in preparing the catalogue entries for this and the following works by Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell and Frederick Etchells.

This flowerpiece was probably painted at Cassis in the South of France in May 1927 when Grant was convalescent for some weeks after an attack of pneumonia.
