Lot Essay

Durst was a sculptor in wood, stone and ivory. He studied sculpture at the Central School of Arts and Crafts and taught wood-carving at the Royal College of Art. His work on church commissions included sculptures for the cathedrals of Canterbury, Winchester, Manchester and Llandaff.
