Lot Essay

A study for the major oil painting, The Goats, 1952 (Hatton Gallery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne) which was painted for the Contemporary Art Society at the suggestion of Wilfred Evill in 1952. Evill presented it to the Hatton Gallery, University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, in 1956.
