Oblong 2° (440 x 540mm.) 1p. subscriber's list, dedication to Josephine, Queen of Norway and Sweden, parallel text in German and English, text somewhat browned, light stain to inner blank margins, occasional light spotting to margins of plates, original roan-backed boards.

A rare work, the subscribers' list is limited to 110 copies. Eckersberg, was born in Drammen, Norway, in 1822. He studied under J.W. Schrimmer in Düsseldorf, spent a period in Maderia for his health, and returned to Düsseldorf in 1854-5, at which point the present work was published. He died in Norway in 1870. His landscapes are characterised by la grande fidélité du dessin, according to Bénézit.
