A Swiss gold and enamel snuff-box
Apparently unmarked, possibly Geneva, circa 1820
Rectangular with canted corners, the reverse and inside of the cover with a vari-coloured enamelled foliate trelliswork pattern, the shaped sides with drapery, tassels and palmettes, all in dark blue, light blue and burned orange, the cover finely painted in enamel with a landscape with peasants, cows near ruins, a lake, mountains and a village in the distance, in a later red leather case
