A large Satsuma baluster vase
Meiji Period
with short everted neck, painted and gilt with panels depicting numerous cranes in flight before Mount Fuji, above a bridge fording a river with waterfalls cascading beside retreats shrouded by dense woods, all on the banks of a river below pine trees, the ground with stylised leaves and honeycomb motifs, the shoulder with interlocking geometric panels above a key-fret band -- 18in. (45.7cm.) high, signed.
