Of turned and assembled wood in standard choshi form with a bowl-shaped body and a long open spout, and two upstanding fittings to take the hinged handle, the lid bisected by a long, low handle and supported on a flange inside the bowl, the top of the lid of plain wood, the interior lacquered red, the exterior except the rim translucent brown-lacquered, some slight old damage, the base inscribed in red lacquer Kanbun ju kanoe-inu toshi banshu kichinichi [a lucky day in late autumn of the tenth year of Kanbun, kanoe-inu (=1670)] and with a name Morikatsu
