A SMALL BLUE AND WHITE 'LOTUS' DISH
Underglaze-blue Yongzheng six-character mark within a double circle and of the period (1723-35)
With shallow rounded sides and recessed base, the interior painted with a lotus pond, the exterior with ducks paddling around lotus below a band of dragons chasing flaming pearls around the rim
4 3/8 in. (11.2 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The decoration on this dish appears on both this and a larger size in the Yongzheng period. A larger dish in the Hong Kong Museum of Art included in the exhibition The Wonders of the Potter's Palette is illustrated in the Catalogue, Hong Kong, 1984, no. 41
