Lot Essay

Jacques I Laudin was from a dynasty of enamellers who were active in Limoges in the 17th and 18th centuries. The images used on the enamels here are undoubtedly from print sources; the peasant figure with birds was also used by Laudin in the well of a two-handled bowl in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (loc. cit).
