The oval gilt case with plain band, cast foliate stem with ring suspension loop, the front cover engraved inside with a coat of arms and the monogram BLD, within an engraved wreath border, the inside of the back cover with an engraved sundial scale, hinged gnomon pierced and engraved with a fruiting vine, glazed compass below, the gnomon and compass pinned to a fixed block, plain gilt dial with Roman chapter ring, single steel hand, oval gilt movement with turned vase pillars, gut fusee, steel balance, pierced and engraved back plate furniture, pinned balance cock, signed Estienne Papon A Gien
