Lot Essay
A former Bank clerk, Treffgarne went on to study at the St John's Wood Art School and the Slade. Treffgarne was a member of the Penwith Society and was close friends with Bryan Wynter, Patrick Heron and Paul Felier with whom he formed the St Ives Group in Cornwall. He was later Art Master at Mercers, Oundle and Harrow School.
