His better known name Mano, with which he signs his works, comes from his rural Aragonese background (Mano being the popular Spanish name for Aragonese). Apart from brief periods of time during his childhood spent in Aragon he has lived almost exclusively in the Catalan capital. He travelled to Italy to see the Renaissance and Classical art and has been influenced by these periods throughout his life.
