gilt fusee movement, square baluster pillars, three armed steel balance, diamond endstone, signed and numbered gilt dust cover, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, gold hands with later hour hand, plain inner case, outer case with chased decoration, each with London marks for 1761, dust cover and movement signed, 47mm.

Lot Essay

Henry Hindley born 1701 and died 1771, a clever clock and watch maker, who made a clock for York Minster in 1750.
He is also credited for having invented the screw-cutting lathe about 1740 and at the same time devised an improved wheel cutting engine.
