"The description of the muscles is based on William Molins' Myskotomia, and the plates on Guilio Casserio's Tabula anatomicae" (Krivatsy). John Browne was widely criticised for plagiarism and error, most notably in James Young's Medicaster medicatus (London, 1685), which is, according to K. F. Russell, the bibliographer, "... the most searching criticism of an author I have ever read; it makes delightful reading."
